This set is huge. I had no illusions that my grandson would not finish this in one session. But it was good. I wanted this activity to last him for days, and it did. The colors of the products have little variety - blue, white, gray and black are the majority. Under such circumstances, I think the set is for older children. I felt my grandson found it a bit monotonous. Some colors are difficult to distinguish in the manuals. Gray and black look awfully similar. Even though blue is so close to gray at times, it's hard to tell. The elimination process really helped, but we stopped a couple of times. There is a warship and then small support vehicles. Although he tried to get my grandson to build smaller cars first, he built a hybrid. He worked on some smaller vehicles, then a ship, some more smaller vehicles, and finally a ship. The details seem lighter than LEGO. Once assembled, the sets feel lighter than a full LEGO build. It's okay, but we noticed. The parts are interchangeable with the original, but it's not really necessary since we finished the set and didn't do any free builds. Some of the instructions seemed a bit vague at times. He felt the instructions required more attention than the LEGO instructions. They are not step by step but several parts go in "step". Other areas were tricky, for example when the parts were next to each other and then had to be connected. It's more like a tech set or just not that intuitive. There are no specific steps on the stickers. So they can be worn on the go or at the end. It's best to look at the main image to see where the stickers go. Another oddity of the set: it has weapons and oars, but no minifigures. We just used regular LEGO to play with the set. The set even took longer than I expected for my grandson. The parts are well matched, so I have nothing to complain about in this regard. This set is huge and the price is way better than a LEGO set of this size. I liked numerous cars. It offers multi-kid play with so many options.
