A Nice Looking, Silent, and Well-Made Winder

Bought this to keep my new Rolex wound up and running. I don't generally wear the watch on weekends, and 50 or 60 hours off my wrist is sometimes enough for the watch to stop. This watch winder works with any "self-winding" watch and has a variety of features. It's powered via the included plug-in power supply or via two AA batteries (not included). A power switch on the rear of the winder turns it on and off. A dial next to the power button selects one of four winding modes that are accurately described in the Best Buy description. I've been using Mode 4, which alternates clockwise and counter-clockwise motion for three hours, then sleeps for nine hours. This mode has worked well and seems to provide the longest battery life. I've been using rechargeable Eneloop AA batteries and they provide power for five weekends of winding in Mode 4 (about 250 hours); a co-worker with this winder gets about two weeks on battery using Mode 3, which is a more frequent winding motion. The watch attaches to a cloth "pillow" that in turn gets placed into a holder inside the winder. The pillow as it came fits my Rolex perfectly (I have a 7-inch diameter wrist) with the pillow needing to be squished slightly. An 8-inch diameter also should fit this nicely. For smaller wrists, the pillow interior is accessible via a slot in the cover, and a little stuffing can be removed to get a good fit. The pillow material is somewhat thick but flexible and should easily handle the wear and tear. If the pillow cover gets dirty, take it off and hand wash it.When operating, this guy is dead silent, even with my ear right next to it. Should not be a noise problem even if placed on a night stand. The box itself appears to be made of a nice cherry or similar solid wood with a nice underlying pattern and has a nice thick glossy polished lacquer finish. The top hinge is a brass piano hinge nicely recessed into the lid and base. All the corners and matching surfaces are true and square, and there's a satisfying solid sound when the cover closes. The base has rubber feet to avoid scratching your dresser or sliding off a table. Overall, the workmanship is excellent here. The transparent front appears to be a high quality plexiglass, allowing a good view of the watch as it turns or just sits there screaming "Look at me!"A good investment to keep my other investment up and running.
