In my hobby I come across many butt connections. That's what makes them so neat, clean and protected. Simply strip the 1/8" thick insulation from both ends to connect them. Insert both wires into each end of the connector until they meet and intertwine with the other wire. Move the connector so that the solder ring is around the bare/twisted wire and crimp the solder ring to hold the wires, then heat with a heat gun or low flame, you will get a low resistance connection that is also waterproof.
