I was going on a quick trip to do some plant shopping and the dark storm clouds were building up. I snagged my windbreaker to bring with me so I could quickly run in and out of stores if necessary, at least to help keep me dry for short runs. Boy, was I surprised.WHAT IS THIS JACKET LIKE?This jacket is AWESOME colorwise. The top is flaming neon safety lemon yellow. The bottom is Black. The inside is entirely mesh for a light inner layer and the color is black.POCKETSThere are two pockets near the side bottom. They are big enough for simple hands, and small items, but not very deep, so anything you put in there can easily come out. There is also an inside pocket in the mesh which has a velcro type closture.ZIPPERThe zipper is an extra large plastic/nylon jacket zipper with big teeth and it zips up nicely.CUFFS AND BOTTOMThe cuffs and bottom are excellent high quality nylon ribbed fabric which hold their shape well and are not soggy with water making them stretch out. They have really good stretch.HOODThe hood of the jacket is nice, but not very deep. When raining or windy, it only covers about 3/4 of my head and does not cover enough to keep my entire head dry. That is a bit odd- I have never had a hood that small on a jacket like this before.WINDDoes this work in the wind- mildly, yes. It is very thin so it is not going to keep you overly protected but if you get it a size up and wear a sweatshirt or something warmer under it you can probably get pretty good wind protection.WATER RESISTANT?I was so happy to have this coat in my car when we got hit with a downpour. I put my coat on and prepared to run my stuff into the house. I ran about 100 ft and when I got into the house, I was completely SOAKED. I am talking SOAKED TO THE SKIN. The only part that is at all water resistant is one of the black areas.I am not sure if it is because they forgot to waterproof it, or what, but it was awful. I have non water resistant coats that were more water resistant than this.THE BOTTOM LINEThis coat is fantastic colorwise. I love it for a really light wind breaker, but for water resistance, it is AWFUL. It really does not protect at all, so it is kind of useless but it looks cool for wind resistance. If this was truly water resistant, I would LOVE it. As it is I just like it.MY RATINGTHREE STARS. This needs to be water resistant. If it was, this would get five stars. Because it soaks in water like a sponge, I can not give it more than three stars.
