Cartridge disappointment

I read in another review that the ink cartridges that came with the printer are only good for setup/initialization. I didn't believe it. I bought a printer and lo and behold, it's true. What a waste of resources that Epson disables the right to use these 812i cartridges. Ecologically irresponsible! Had to order $80 cartridges right after install. I'm very disappointed in Epson now because it's an area that needs a hero. HP is terrible with its unfriendly software, and Canon is the same, but with the added "bonus" of poor hardware reliability. The only printer that has been reliable and not too expensive to run is my Ricoh color laser. This Workforce Pro WF-7820 should better perform well for years to come OR MORE! The update is more of a disappointment: Normal printer cartridges only last a few months with light use. I've been filling my WF 7820 ink cartridges since day one. I was one of Epson's first customers and now I feel cheated.

Pros
  • Good workmanship
Cons
  • Good but not great
