This DVD player does exactly what it promises. Takes standard DVDs and plays them in HD quality. My only complaint is that I had to purchase an HDMI cable separately, but it was a small price to pay to convert my standard DVD collection to HDDVD, which this player does. I have no plans to buy Blu-Ray discs unless they stop making standard DVDs. Then I need to buy a BR player, but until then I just need an upconverted DVD player. The picture quality seems to me to be as good as the Blu-Ray demos I've seen at an electronics store. This player turns your standard DVDs into HDDVDs for less than half the price of the cheapest BR player. What else do you need. At least one reviewer claims that two other manufacturers have players that perform better upconversion. If that person isn't a consumer product tester, I doubt his word. Who buys so many players to compare them? Quite a lot of hassle, even with players deemed ineligible to return. I mean I made this comparison by going into a shop and they showed me the capabilities of different machines. And I say that this machine turns standard DVDs into HDDVDs. If you don't want to buy back your DVDs from BR or don't want to buy an expensive BR player, you don't have to. This product makes it unnecessary.
