Review on Flea-Free Feline: SENTRY Flea Comb for Cats by Paula Whalen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

FAR is my favorite!

I can't even begin to imagine how many flea combs I've bought in my life, well, since I was old enough to have my own pets. I've tried double row combs which I don't like (because fleas tend to get stuck between the rows and just fall out), I've had very fancy soft touch combs with teeth covered in something so slippery that fleas just slide off. But hey, at least the pen is a great stress reliever! Despite all that, this comb is definitely my favorite! Best suited for finer coats, cats or dogs (but really fine dog coats). One thing that sets this comb apart from MANY other combs is that the part of the comb where the teeth go is NOT BLACK! I still haven't figured out why ANY flea comb maker thinks it's a good idea to collect dark brown to black fleas with a black background comb! The lighter the area where the teeth will be used, the better. I almost bought another comb which was yellow in the picture but then I read the 'fine print' and saw that the comb was actually a darker blue than this one! Grrr! Definitely I would recommend this comb and color especially to cat owners. I usually put water in a container, like an old sour cream bucket or something, and THEN after I put the water in, I add dish soap (no need to use harsh chemicals). Why not vice versa? One of the flea circuses? As we all know, fleas can run away, but HUMAN! Will they ever be able to jump from soap bubbles! Evil little animals! Most of the time I can just shake them (especially males and young fleas) off the comb (FAST!), but sometimes large mothers (literally large female fleas) get stuck between the teeth of the comb and I have to pinch a comb on each side to pull it out . But at least they get stuck there and don't jump! Ouch! This comb is also great for picking up flea dirt which is actually the dried blood of our pets and the end product of fleas which I recently learned can lay eggs on it. Fleas weren't that gross, I almost admired their ability to adapt and survive. Did you know that only women feed on blood? And what really struck me was that fleas actually pupate! They actually spin a cocoon. COCOON! This is just one of the reasons why they are so difficult to get rid of. They can hide in our yards and houses for a LONG time until delicious food comes! I'm sorry if I annoy you too much!
