I bought this for my 11 year old Duke Golden Retriever. The ramp fits the door of my Nissan Titan easily, but it's on a steep slope. Duke doesn't know what to do and it's a bit of a wrestling match to get him to climb on her. So you might have trouble with it early on, but I think with practice he'll get used to it. It has a non-slip surface, but I don't think it will stand up to dog claws for long. The ramp is very light and seems pretty solid so far. I have to turn the ramp, even though my doors at the back open just as wide as at the front. I will continue daily training with Duke to see if he can walk on his own at some point. Smaller dogs are likely to have fewer problems.
