I bought this star for my son's room. It does the usual job of projecting a few blurry "stars" around his entire bedroom (more like RGB dots), but does the job by adding nighttime lighting. However, it worked flawlessly for several months. A few days ago we smelled a faint warm scent as we entered his bedroom; smelled almost like a warm dryer. We couldn't determine the cause, but the smell became more frequent over the next few days and started smelling more like electrocution. We were finally able to determine that the smell came from this starlight. Something electrical was definitely burning inside. We immediately shut down and removed the light from his room. PLEASE BE CAREFUL AS THIS LIGHT CAUSES THE SMELL OF BURNING ELECTRICITY AND POTENTIALLY CAUSES A FIRE. Since he is almost 6 months old I can't return him so he goes in the bin. I haven't seen a way to contact the manufacturer directly from their Revain corporate page. Anyway, I have several other similar lamps from other companies that have lasted for years with no problems.
