Review on Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer: Track Your Steps on the Go! by Eric Hay

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good but not as good as the previous version

UPDATE 2/15/16 My third Omron HJ-112 pedometer is a little wobbly so I came to Revain to see if I could get another one. The Revain price for this item is twice what I paid two years ago. Such a price jump usually indicates that the model is no longer in production and people are overpaying for the remaining units. I reviewed the latest Omron device and it's even narrower than this one and the buttons are oddly shaped. I will not buy any more Omron. I'll look for something else. This is the third Omron HJ-112 pocket digital pedometer I have purchased. The previous two were the same. They were slightly larger and had 4 buttons that were much easier to use. The new version with only 3 buttons is not so easy to use. The smaller size of the new pedometer really doesn't make a difference when clipped to a belt, so this had to be done to save on costs. Because it's smaller, the company changed the number, size, and layout of the buttons. In the current model, the dial is too small and uncomfortable to use. Eventually I had to click on it with the pen. The save button has been moved and again it's not as big or as easy to use as the previous model. -6 months. The plastic clips on my two previous pedometers broke and had to be replaced with something more durable. In terms of ergonomics, it is not as easy and comfortable to use as the previous version due to the changed buttons. Pros: This pedometer works great for my walks. He's sensitive, but not too sensitive. It tracks steps, 7 extra days, calories burned, aerobic walking or running minutes, and total miles. Everything I follow The size of the numbers on the screen makes them easy to read. The numbers on many other pedometer models are much smaller and harder to read. Summary: It's okay, even good in some areas, but button changes make it harder to use. I want them to go back to the previous model.
