FAKE Leather for steering wheel accessories

The item is listed as 'genuine leather' and when it arrived it smelled and looked like leather but once I started fitting it became apparent that it wasn't 100% Leather and a split leather underlay with an attached vinyl (plastic) coating on the outside to look like leather embossed under the skin. But given the price I think it would be asking too much that this is genuine top quality cowhide leather these days. I believe they sell a "leather" called "pu leather" and if you google the term it will describe it as I described analyzing this product. Unfortunately, I can't judge how it compares to "genuine leather". I think it's very wrong to call something "genuine leather" that is actually plastic with some leather fiber on the back, but I think that's what is considered "true" these days. To be honest if I had known it was plastic I wouldn't have bought it so lying to the customer works I guess. As for easy installation, allow 2-3 hours if you want. a high quality setup with the wheel on the car (rather than removed) and you want "Baseball" or "American Stitch" instead of the simple stitch design they illustrate (again google the terms). I find the ground stitch is stronger, looks better and lets the case lay flatter on the handlebars. The case LOOKS great and the lacing is perfect (time consuming so expect failure and heartache if you're in a hurry or careless) but still a disappointment. If I had bought a QUALITY product it wouldn't have taken longer to install but I would have a professional air duct to be proud of and feel good in my hand. If you're expecting leather the item deserves ONE star on an absolute scale for the misleading description and the fact that it's NOT what you want, but I gave it 3 stars because I don't think it's unfair for the PRICE. If you really want "real" leather, you just have to spend a lot more in my opinion. Live and learn and probably trust no one. :(
