Long at first, then fun! Wow how long it took to cut off the excess! I probably spent 2-3 hours going through each part. Thank goodness you only have to do it once! But they give you a good pair of scissors for it. I particularly like the small organizer box that comes with it. I wish there were more spaces so I could put each letter in its own place, but it works! And it's way better than throwing everything in a bag. Different sizes are good and there are many symbols. My husband told me he doesn't think I have the patience for something like this so I guess I have to be careful with that. It takes a lot of time not only to cut off the excess, but also to put real letters on the board. However, if you enjoy doing small, mind-numbing things like I do, it's a lot of fun! One day, through my own fault, it fell off the table it was on and the letters flew EVERYWHERE. They are not very secure when placed in felt. Be careful with this as the small pieces are flying everywhere and could pose a choking hazard in the wrong little hands! Overall I'm having a lot of fun with it and I'm glad I bought it!
