H7 HID Review: Krypton & Xenon Bulbs

Got these to replace my Acura Integra 97. I had a pair of 6000k bulbs on my aftermarket headlights (H7) that were three years old and as the price was right I opted for newer and slightly bluish bulbs. . Remember that these short-arc lamps cannot be run directly on twelve volts! You must have the correct ballast which I have already hooked up so it only took me 10 minutes to install the lamps. It is interesting to note that my ballast is rated for fifty five watts and I use 35 watt bulbs which do not fail. You are bright enough. Lamps may not last as long as if powered by a suitable 35w ballast. You might want to search the web forums to read what others have experienced. Perhaps the bulbs themselves can draw additional wattage and if you order a 55 watt ballast and bulb kit only the ballast is of higher wattage and the bulbs are good for 35 or 55 watts (actually the ballast wattage per bulb is less than 50). five / thirty-five, that's input watts per ballast) Cool that you can buy such kits so cheaply. I have a friend who took a Coleman Quarts portable halogen spotlight and modified it to work with one of these lamps. He pulled out a small box on the side for the electronics and a twelve volt, seven amp hour rechargeable gel battery. It's sharply focused and bright as shit! I hope this review is of use. Just remember that none of these aftermarket kits and bulbs are going to work as well as the factory headlights on, say, a BMW, so don't expect them to look as good. With the right reflector, these lamps are brighter and look cooler than quartz halogen lamps.
