very soft, elastic and relatively light. My daughter prefers these shorts over traditional lingerie/briefs because they don't ride up, bunch up or irritate her with bulky seams. But - if you're looking for underpants or mid-weight to heavy dance shorts with structure (e.g. a thicker, slim-fitting leotard or cycling shorts) this may not be the best choice. This is a more breathable lightweight long underwear (IMO). Perfect for our needs.
