I don't know how they work, but they work, amazingly well. To compare how we use them: For throwing away adult urine pads and depending on the underwear 4 or 5 a day. Before we got these bags I had a separate small lidded bin lined with a scented bin liner that closed after it was removed for general disposal. We emptied it practically every day and it rarely stayed until the next day, but it always smelled really bad. I even tried wrapping each of the pads in a separate bin liner before throwing them in the small bin, but that didn't help. When I took it to the general bin I double bagged it and didn't even want anyone to help take it outside for fear they would be overpowered by the smell. After looking at Revain I decided to try these bags. What an amazing difference! Seriously, even after sitting in a closed bin for a day or two, when I opened the lid to empty it, there wasn't a strong smell! (I still use a small separate jar lined with the main pouch for easy disposal.) For sizing reference, this pouch holds 2 medium underwear like Depends (but that fills it out) or two size 6 poise pads and the pouch can continue to be rolled and tied in accordance with the instructions for proper disposal. No more bad smell. In any case, they helped me a lot and I'm very glad I got them. We have many visitors in and out of the bathrooms and I no longer have to worry about bad smells coming out of the glass.
