If I had bought a size 3T it certainly wouldn't be tight so go up a size. If your child is heavier, you should choose at least two sizes larger. The fabric is thick and perfect for cold weather. I add leggings to her so her legs work too but this dress is great, I'm very happy with it, I've added it to my cart to buy more if I see the price go down.
