Great monitor at a great price

I bought my ViewSonic VG2030m 20" LCD monitor in October 2007 and it has worked flawlessly. I chose this model over the widescreen model because I do a lot of graphic editing and wanted to have as much open screen real estate as possible My only regret is that I didn't get the 22"! My monitor comes with a DVI cable, contrary to what others have reported. It was easy to set up. I already have a good set of speakers so I have "I haven't bothered with the built in speakers after reading so many comments about how cheap and tinny they sound so it wasn't a problem. The colors and clarity of this monitor are top notch. My expectations. They are great! Colors are clear , real and vibrant. The blacks are rich and deep. There were no dead pixels. My only concern is slight fading or glare at the bottom edge of the M onitors, but from what I've seen with other LCD monitors, this is a common occurrence. It's barely noticeable. The viewing angle on this screen is important. You want to sit directly in front of the monitor and at eye level with the center of the screen for the best results. If you look at the screen from above or from the side, the image becomes noticeably faint. I wanted a high quality LCD monitor to replace the huge, heavy old CRT monitor that was taking up too much space on my desk. This one delivers. The quality of the materials is excellent. The stand is very strong and stable. I've never had any issues with tipping over - not even hesitation! When editing image files, I had many problems with my old Dell Trinitron CRT monitor, even with the correct driver and ICC profile installed. Although the images looked great on my screen, I could not get consistent, accurate printouts of my image files. The images I uploaded to the web didn't look like I edited them in Photoshop or Painter. I started blaming my printers or my graphics card (ATI Radion X300 SE graphics card). I bought a ViewSonic monitor and installed the appropriate driver from the installation CD that came with it. When I first turned it on, it was amazing! Just great. I didn't have to adjust anything. Now when I edit images with a graphics editing program, what I see on my screen is exactly what is printed on my Epson or Canon printers. I can upload pictures to the internet and be sure they look great. The text quality on this monitor is quite acceptable. There are rare instances where small text looks a little blurry, but I find this to be another problem with most LCD monitors, and this one beats most. All in all, this is a great monitor at a great price. I would definitely buy another ViewSonic.
