Review on OontZ True Wireless BudZ Ultra Headphones by Janet Gonzalez

Disappointed with in-ear headphones

Wanted to love them - I really like my Oontz portable speakers but they are mixed. Are they terrible, no. Are they good or not. This is how Bluetooth establishes a connection quickly and easily – no effort. It's LIGHT YEARS ahead of other cheap buds I've had. No crashes - again light years ahead of others I've had. This has many positive sides! Fit - I don't like things in my ears so I removed the silicone pad but found it to be quite loose so I put it back on. It's small in length and doesn't really bother me. It also helps a lot in holding the bud. The buds are slightly larger but still fit. Overall, they are also not small - both in length and in thickness. I think the sharp edges and ear protrusion make the wind noise much worse. The suitcase is quite large - there is no reason for that. The Oontz earbuds have a body that's about half the size. So the sound quality. Not good. On the verge of horror. no bass It sounds like a small portable AM radio in your ear. Not quite the sound "out of a tin can" that really bad kidneys make, but close. My standard Sennheiser MX365 (wired) earphones are wrapped in foam (not silicone). You sound good. They don't have the benefit of a silicone ear cap, but they still have a lot more bass. I did a quick informal test with a tone generator to see where the rolloff was. Sennheiser have been accelerated to 65 Hz. These are at a frequency of around 110 Hz. There was almost no sound at a frequency of 55-60 Hz. Obviously the drivers are not able to reproduce low frequencies. When I set up a test, I'm confident that the frequency response will drop steadily to that 110Hz and not clip at the 110Hz point. Now that I've said it, I'm not looking for boomy bass - actually, I hate that overcompensated kind of sound. I just want to hear the full range - and that really doesn't exist. However, the picture is not bad - a good sound stage. They're probably pretty good for voice calls based on frequency response. Then there is noise compensation. Not good. Minimal impact and barely noticeable. Trust me, I have a lot of NC headphones - you wouldn't even know they were there unless they told you. To make matters worse, the "Pass Through" mode somehow adds white noise to the background. How does it help? How does it become "passable"? Like I said, it's mixed. If you've been looking for something good from Oontz because they've done such a good job with their portable speakers - well they've missed the mark by far with these. cheaper.
