Intact packaging but damaged items?

I have ordered a few Vasagle items in the past and before that everything was great. Pretty standard items that always cost a little more than similar items, but the quality and care always made them feel valuable. Until now. Maybe I was just unlucky, but the dining table I had had a huge chip in the corner. Pretty disappointing. Maybe I'll just go with the cheaper ones now. The strange thing is that the packaging it came in was in perfect condition. I didn't see any damage to the shipping box so I'm wondering what happened.
