I use them for my Día de los Muertos proposal. They all need batteries, so be prepared to buy a whole pack of batteries. I really like the settings and the timer. I've had the altar for about 20 days and have been lighting the candles for about 3-4 hours every day and the batteries aren't dead yet. You must be very close to the candle to operate it with the remote control. When I turned them on, I went into each section and made the necessary adjustments. The remote did not capture all the candles at once. There are three different sizes that I have shown in the pictures. From the outside it looks like wax, but the actual "flame" is soft plastic.
