Review on Beastcage (For IPhone XR) by Beth Dellman

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A real beast, in a good way!

I know a lot of people want to make their iPhone cameras even better, and I think Beastgrip is a great way to do that. The workmanship is solid and of good quality. The 37mm machined metal thread is strong and makes it easy to attach the lens securely (I use the Beastgrip Pro wide angle lens, but any 37mm compatible lens will do). There is a range of standard threaded attachment points for tripods or other equipment. , and a cold shoe is built into the case. My only complaint, and why 4 and not 5 stars, is that the downside of the solid, solid metal construction is that it makes the phone bulkier and heavier (especially important if you're using a gimbal) than ideal. However, after looking at a range of iPhone lens settings, including the moment, I think the trade-off is justified. I need durability and prefer a threaded lens mount to a bayonet mount (although a bayonet mount plate is included if that's what you prefer), and I also feel like there's plenty of protection and utility for my phone in the Beastgrip. As a phone case I find it surprisingly good considering the weight/size - the buttons are great and the phone slides in and out of the Beastgrip more easily if you prefer to change cases. All in all a really great product that will find many fans in the world of iPhoneography.

Pros
  • INDUSTRIAL STANDARD - Integrated 1/4"-20 threaded mounts for unlimited accessory mounting options.
