Make sure your phone is on the compatibility list

my wife has a galaxy s7 that doesn't charge vertically. I have to put it down. The vertical position needs a wider shelf, my iPhone 5 doesn't sit on it, it just lays flat. I suspect it depends on the phone, a motorola x pure with a wireless receiver will work but needs to be moved to find a sweet spot on the iphone 5.
