Looks like it has been cut to look like jade. I knew it wasn't (you will NEVER get a real jade necklace for that price). So it didn't affect my rating at all. The product is very beautiful. Has a nice weight. Needs to be machine cut as another reviewer noted. The beads on the "chain" are very pretty! Not the piece, but again the price. In general I'm quite happy with it. I would give that too. If you don't expect a "real" gemstone jade, you won't be disappointed. To respond to another reviewer's comment that her color was obsidian black, my second photo shows a piece next to a piece of a Bodhisattva's obsidian. I recommend.
