Review on Requirements Management for JIRA (R4J) by Amador Buckenmeyer
Found R4J by chance, they had previously used Rally to manage their requirements and were looking for something better.
After reviewing a few options, they chose R4J over Rally because of the built-in functionality to automate testing and reporting on a project and the cost effectiveness of using it as opposed to purchasing other products. A lot of thought went into the architecture and how to use it efficiently. We would recommend them to anyone looking for a great solution to their requirements management.
Pros
- Good documentation on how to integrate the tool with your existing workflow, how to setup dashboards, and how to use some of the features (like linking to Excel)
- Has all of the functionality that you will need, from requirement management to project planning
Cons
- Cost - the price point is not for everyone
- However, once you get used to it, it becomes second nature
- To be able to keep track of changes, you must go back to the original record and manually update the change log
