This is exactly what I was looking for. I recently upgraded to a 4K UHD TV and needed a high definition, powerful and clear sound source. With my old TV I always used a 3.5mm RCA jack to connect my Sony ZX-6 (an old but powerful stereo) to play music, movies and video games. Unfortunately, the great TV couldn't support my trusty old great sound system. Sony had no optical input and no function for it. I didn't want to buy a completely different sound system right after buying an expensive TV since I'm just a college student (those things aren't the wisest of purchases lol). This audio converter was the only that I could find physically and online. Skeptical about how cheap it was, I ordered it anyway and crossed my fingers. Here! I tested my theory of converting RCA to 3.5mm to optical and IT WORKS! Now I continue to enjoy new entertainment experiences while maintaining my childlike dynamics, super bass, explosive stereo! I can think of it as performance dependent. This isn't a problem though as I just plugged it into my TV's USB port. It would be nice if it didn't require a power source to work, so I gave it 4 stars.
