Review on πŸ“Ί Enhance Your Digital Experience with the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter P3Q 00001 by Mark Sutovsky

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Almost returned

Update after difficult installation: Audio and video often drop out even though computer is 8 feet from TV (I'm streaming local MP3 content). If I could choose less than 1 star I would. waste of money. In my case, all I had to do was run an HDMI cable from the PC to the TV. Initial review: This device took 40 minutes to play around with, despite years of experience with Windows 10. What the instructions don't say is that you must first download and install the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter app from the Microsoft Store. The next hurdle is calling the support center. According to the instructions, this should be as easy as Notifications -> Connect -> Select Adapter, except I never got notified and couldn't find what's called the Notification Center. Some guides on the web advise you to use WINDOWS+C, except on my system it is WINDOWS+K. This brings up a screen that is inaccessible with any of the settings controls (weird!), where you can eventually connect to the adapter. It's a mystery to me why Microsoft used an obscure keyboard shortcut to access this menu. BTW the Microsoft documentation (including the help text displayed on the TV screen) is for tablet PCs where you can swipe to get to the connection menu (another mystery as to why Microsoft forgets there are millions of normal PCs). After the final connection, everything worked, and now the controls behave like copying or mirroring the screen, like connecting an LCD projector. Overall rating 1 star because of the absolute rubbish documentation. No need to crawl ten websites to finally connect this little device.
