I've just kept them open and in various places around my house and I can say they've dried the air in my house . . Remember to use 2 in the big room. I live in an old house (1920s) and have tried everything. I know it won't dry out completely but it's been raining for 2 days now and it's worked really well. Packed well, you can hang around the house. The item itself has no odor but my indoor air seems cleaner/cleaner.
