Painful installation, fragile

First time installation. From the front you need to thread the straps into the wheel arches of the front tires. They offer directions you would simply miss next to a roll cage tube. Well, there wasn't enough room to just slide it down. I ended up using a thinner material for the strap which I discarded then stapled to the strap and pulled down. It's easy when I have the idea. The instructions are also very unclear as to where to wrap the straps. I don't think it matters much but it would save me time if they had clearer photos or better yet just a link to a website with color photos and videos to make the whole process easier. The black and white single sheet of my instructions developed over 10 years is not very helpful. After installation, I loaded the UTV into our trailer and went camping. Halfway to filling up, I noticed the back zippers were opening on their own, probably flapping for a while, and the tarp/vinyl was torn. In hindsight, yes I could see it, but it didn't occur to me that they were so easy to unzip when zipped up. I rolled them back (again, the way to secure a rolled up roof isn't very intuitive. I figured it out, but spent a few minutes figuring out exactly how to secure them properly, which I was pretty paranoid about, what is what The rest of the trip went well although now the tarpaulin, vinyl was damaged beyond repair and part of the roof where the zipper had ripped off caused a 2-3 inch hole in the frayed material making it possible was not beyond repair Returned the roof, a little smarter but also disappointed with the quality of the materials, the complexity of the installation and the lack of indications of possible problems with the holding of zippers.

Pros
  • Zipper insert perfect for sunset rides and night rides when the sun isn't burning, while reverse helix zippers keep dust and dirt out
Cons
  • Poorly thought out
