I bought a small one and it only fits because my muffin top is not big. But I definitely don't have flat abs and this shirt only suits me because I wear mom jeans and my pants cover my stomach. And so this shirt flows down smoothly. If I had worn different pants, I might have gotten medium. Also, it seems to me that it shrinks when I put it in the dryer. So I regretted buying a larger size so I could throw it in the dryer. (Because I hate taking care of certain clothes. It's just time consuming and I'm lazy ha) But it suits me anyway.
