I am a woman and I bought this leg epilator. I have never used hot wax and have only used ready-to-use wax strips once. As for the product, it smells good. Fresh and a bit "manly" but not too strong. I've had no trouble microwaving and getting the right temperature/consistency. My container did not become brittle or melt when heated, and my microwave was not damaged. I would like to add that I read all the instructions before doing anything and followed them to the letter. There is no problem applying or removing wax if you apply it in one thick layer. He coped well with hair removal, there was no pain. It may just be my inexperience though, but what a mess the whole process was! No matter how hard I tried to avoid turning the spatula, threads of wax flew around me. Where I had wax on my legs where it wasn't in a good thick layer and didn't come off properly, I found it terribly difficult to remove. I managed to get some off and then scrub off the rest with a sugar scrub scrub but there was still some left over and I had to scrape it off. Also, I didn't think the use of gloves was necessary, but damn I was wrong. Fresh manicure ruined! The wax wouldn't come off the paint on my nails and I had to resort to removing the polish. Overall I like the product, except that it's difficult to remove if you don't apply it just right. Perhaps experienced waxers would not have this problem. Back to shaving for me :-)
