IT worked! After dealing with DSS, aka Dirty Sock Syndrome, for several years with two 5 year old air conditioners, I was trying to solve the horrific odor problem caused by the frequent transition from cold to warm to cool. This year the smell was very bad when the air conditioner was on. I cleaned the coils first with Nu Calgon Evap Foam Evaporator Coil Cleaner No Rinse. This product left a great lemon fresh scent on the body for several days. Then a few days later when the air conditioning was turned on the smell returned. Believing the coils had been properly cleaned, the problem was with the air return and internal channels. At this point I used this product, Bio Fresh CD, as instructed and filled a Zep spray bottle with this walkthrough. I removed the inlet filter and just turned on the fan, then put on goggles and sprayed a liberal amount of fine mist to get it through the entire system. After a week of use with the air conditioner on and off, there was no smell. As mentioned in a review, there is an odor they call metallic, but I would describe it as a cleaner, healthier smell that dissipates over time. In my opinion this will SOLVE the problem without covering it up with a new fragrance/freshener. I hope this helps you.
