I don't know how others have used them but I spent a couple of weeks in an SUV and used them as a bug screen when I slept at night. The elastic band around the bottom was helpful. They were easy to install. They weren't as dark as my blinds but allowed me to roll down the windows so I couldn't see very well. I wouldn't recommend riding in them unless you put them on from the inside when closing the door. I think that will work, but it also leads to increased wear.
