First, this scratching post is very large. It stretches from floor to ceiling in our house and gives cats a chance to look down on us. This is a natural position for any cat. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: + This scratching post is good value for money. + It handles larger cats better than some other products I've seen. + Hanging birds are simply irresistible for our kittens. We added a few extra hanging toys (shown in the photo) using a stapler. Cons: - The packaging is not very good. The top case was cracked and I fixed it (inside) with tape. It seems that the manufacturer just puts everything in the box. There is no packaging or padding. There are some pillars wrapped in rope and in the building instructions they are divided by length. The lengths are the same and you will need to use a tape measure to determine what to use where. It would be very helpful if the manufacturer put a letter label on them that matched the instructions. An enlarged base and a few extra cross braces would have made this a bit stiffer. It wobbles a bit, but it's not bad.
