It's foldable, which I didn't expect, and inside there's a foldable thin divider that divides it into two compartments. My idea was to use a sharp knife to cut off one end and put the cat box in, but it's too flimsy. However, I bought 3 of these and put one on the porch to deliver boxes or shoes, one by the entryway for shoes, and one under the dining room window to store tools. Adults can sit on it comfortably, although at 300# I only trust sitting down for a few minutes! But the 180-pound man sat in a relaxed position many times for a lengthy chat. I've used them on poufs/ottomans and coffee tables. I store children's stuff so the kids can play in my large room but still have a place to go. I also kept bed linen in it (bed linen for the unexpected sofa guest, as well as table linen.
