The ottoman arrived well packaged. When I first unpacked it from the plastic packaging, I noticed a slight smell. I hope it dissipates when it goes off the air. The faux leather looks good overall, but one of the buttons on the device we received had dirt or scuffs on it - I tried to wipe it off to no avail. It's ok, and it's almost invisible, but something to consider as a possibility when shopping for beige. The cube itself doesn't look like wood, more like heavy cardboard. It appears to be made from essentially the same material used for the heavier fabric storage cubes you see in stores designed for storage in storage organizers or bookshelves. Therefore, depending on the intended use, bulging and deformation of the cube sides can occur during filling. The lid, on the other hand, is heavy and stiff and more like solid wood. Strong and durable when assembled, this storage stool looks beautiful thanks to the faux leather material and wooden legs. Easy to assemble but no instructions. Although there are few parts, making assembly easy and very quick, at first I wasn't sure what to do with the 4 thin plastic pieces that came with it. However, after looking at the Revain photos, I quickly saw that they are used on the outside of the bottom of the cube as a buffer between the base and each leg post. Also, while assembling this stool, I learned that it helps to press down on the inside of the unit when screwing in the legs, otherwise the legs may not snap into place. However, as soon as you put your foot down, they screw themselves very tightly, placing the stool on a stable and level support. Overall, this is a very good device for the price.
