Review on Nikon D3100 DSLR Camera Body (Kit Box) - No Lens Included, International Version with No Warranty by Agata Zimka Semeniuk ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The ratio of price and quality is very pleasing, I will repeat the purchase.

I will speak for myself when I say that given the price of the product and its market, I am generally very satisfied. Nothing is lacking, and everything is done well. This is my first DSLR. I compared the D90 with the noise, and the D90 comes up short! The D3100 Expeed 2 matrix is the same in both 5100 and 7000. Hence, there won't be any change in image quality between the D3100-D7000 price range; instead, the 7000 may have less noise and the added functionalities. Take full-frame right away if you decide you've outgrown this device or if you simply want something better and different. Because switching from one crop to another is not a very profitable endeavor. I just purchased a 50mm 1.4 lens, and as I'm getting used to it, the picture is drastically different! By the way, the whale 18-55 lens is not a bad one; considering its cost, it performs admirably.)

Pros
  • The D3100 is entirely cost-effective and provides all the components necessary for good results (provided that your hands grow properly and you know how to use editors)
Cons
  • Auto white balance is inaccurate, especially in low light and with inside lamps, but everything is manually fixed on the camera and on the computer in RAW. If you wish to capture a picture, it is best to avoid using live view mode; instead, utilize it for video. When shooting video, autofocus works sadly and slowly. It is preferable to switch to manual focus so that the lens motor won't make any noise. The memory card's lid dangles; at first, it killed me, but eventually it scored totally. After a year of careful use, dust started to accumulate under the focusing screen. I removed the screen myself, blew it out with a pear, and after some time, dust started to accumulate once more. Just seen in the viewfinder, it has no impact on the picture's quality. It turned discovered that this issue affects practically all DSLRs.
