Love this thing. My husband hates it and I'm not sure if my son has tried it yet. I am a dental hygienist with skin/tissue sensitivity. Most toothpastes cause toothache and the tissue flakes off. So I bought this to keep my teeth strong (no rot). I was pleased when it made my teeth less sensitive. Now I can take water straight from the aerator faucet without heating it and my teeth are not sensitive. In a word, it doesn't foam at all. But as a hygienist, I know you don't have to have foam in your mouth to get rid of plaque. The mechanical action of the brush removes plaque.
