False marketing as it's polypropylene plastic with wheat straw. This is not an eco-friendly product as it is a plastic made from petroleum. It looks like a typical plastic product and the lines of the parts of the tooling (injection molding) it was made in are sharp. You don't have to go through any quality control. Some of the plates I received were dirty and some had scratches. However, they're lightweight and look better than other flimsy plastic items, so they'll likely last a while. I like that they are more matte.
