The black part is easy to scratch, but also easy to wash. Took this trip to Europe, to areas where pickpocketing was fairly common. The bag looks rather daunting as the main zippered compartment is more difficult to open. There is an external zipper, but if you adjust it properly, it will also be difficult to open. Internal zippers are concealed and blocked by bag straps. Bag storage is pretty good. Laptop storage and small pocket for phone, wallet etc. Not a bad bag overall. I like the look and the added sense of security.
