UPDATE 2021: We have been using them for over 2 years now. We bought another set in black and swapped them out when the others wore out. They eventually stop bleeding in the washing machine, so we just toss them in our everyday laundry. They didn't begin to loosen or fall apart at all. Which is surprising since we don't make it easy for them at all. They stopped being just napkins and started being used for anything and everything; under dog food and water, under a coffee pot to put hot pots on, under wet dishes to dry on, under coloring books to draw on, whatever, and that's what they were used for. The colors have faded but I expected nothing less from the constant abuse over the years. Overall they are beautiful and timeless. ORIGINAL 2019: We like it very much. We are a family of 6 with 4 dirty kids and we use them every day for every meal. They are very strong. Nice and thick, not thin at all. They are washed every few days and are not yet unraveled. They shrink a little after the first wash, but are made from 100% cotton. Cotton ALWAYS shrinks when washed. There's nothing you can do about it. And anyone who gets upset about it is simply clueless and should buy polyester towels instead, because polyester doesn't shrink. I put them in the washing machine with cold water and put them on the table to dry so I don't have to iron them. But even in cold water, you shouldn't wash them with anything else unless you don't mind the color getting into the rest of your laundry. You're bleeding like crazy. Another thing is that these napkins may not necessarily be intended for special occasions or parties. If you buy them for that, they won't be perfectly square. Some are better than others, some look like they were taken at a slight angle. For my family we think it adds a bit of character and doesn't detract from it at all. We're actually hoarding another set in a different color for a change for the holidays, but if you're picky about decorating they might not suit you.
