Review on Comfy & Convenient: Foxelli Self-Inflating Sleeping Pad For An Ultimate Camping Experience by Harel Leary

Good balance between simple and more practical

We've had trouble with air mattresses in the past, and old school eggshell foam pads pack like a loose jack in the box. So we think this foam and air combo worked out really well. When we first received our two pads and inflated them, I was skeptical that they would deflate well and fit in the bag well (tips on that below). But they self-inflate well (little to no huffing and puffing) and deflate just fine. The snaps to link pads together work well and are a nice feature. We also felt safe letting our mini Schnauzer walk on them without worrying. We kept them safe from our cat when doing the recommended initial inflation though! You will notice the weight and size of the bag a bit if you add them to a backpack and hike to your tent site, but it would be very manageable.Deflating/packing tips: The dual packing bags/elastic options are a nice touch. We found the half-width fold to work best, but that is probably each person's preference. The trick to getting them fully deflated is that once you have some air out, close the valve as you prep the next fold or roll-up, then re-open it once you are ready to compress it again. Then close it and prep the next fold/roll, and repeat. That keeps air from coming back in as you move and adjust the pad to keep closing it down.Enjoy your pad.
