As much as I hate writing bad reviews, sadly it has to be. I ordered this a while ago for my Shih Tzu who weighs no more than 19-20lbs and I thought the height was perfect for my mom's new bed as her new bed is now 30 inches. When I received it, the steps were fine at first. . Firstly, I have to say the installation wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. They should snap easily if you're a pro at joining hard plastic, which unfortunately we, who aren't made of steel, aren't. It took me, my mom and my brother a JOINT force to get all the materials in place. The rest of the stairs were pretty good. Then I noticed that my little man (my 20 pound Shih Tzu) didn't like going up or down stairs. So I thought maybe it's just adjusting to the new height, he'll get used to it. NO! It's not the height! The steps do this odd tilt and because it tilts when going down it comes in handy when you push it forward, causing him to almost knock them out in one shot every time. Sometimes he was too frightened by the rapid descent and just tried to jump off the second step. Which is dangerous for him because he's small, and defeats the whole purpose of even taking steps! Secondly, the little man (my 20kg Shih Tzu) had nothing to hold on to when descending because the steps are mostly plastic with little material when he felt like he was about to fall! Finally, where's the support? When you order these steps you will find that there is no backing or underside to support these huge 30 inch steps. They give you these bars, which is worse because they create this rocking motion, like a little person (my 20 lb Shih Tzu) pacing up and down, who in turn started sliding and up the steps off the bed or the end of the Move to where you already mounted the ladder. Now I don't know about you, but if I were to walk down the stairs myself and it was going downhill, I would be scared to death when they started staggering and shaking. Completely untenable and absolutely not worth it. Now I have new ladders for him that are better and more stable but he is so scared and traumatized from the experience. with these leaders to even give them a chance. To sum it up, my take on these steps is 3 words, NOT!
