Review on Modway EEI 271 WHI Lippa Mid Century Modern Furniture by Smriti Pearson

I bought the 48" real marble version. When it arrived it had a fiberglass base, not cast aluminum like the description says. The bottom edge of the base was cracked and the white shiny surface around the bottom edge was rough and sloppy. The slab was real marble, but they put some kind of plastic coating on it that takes away all the deep shine. It was also streaked in one spot in daylight. The marble underneath was beautiful, just a shame it was coated rather than just polished and sealed. So I could have just swapped it out for another one, but there was one big issue with it that wasn't acceptable to me. The fiberglass base cannot support a heavy marble slab and actually flexes when you lean on the table. It's not hard. Therefore, when someone leans on it or does something, it flexes, almost like a table with a short leg. It was a deal breaker. The table must be strong. I ordered one from another manufacturer that has real polished marble and a rock solid cast aluminum base. Oh, it seems that depending on what top you get, what base you get: aluminum or fiberglass. It's hard to tell if the fiberglass base is the old version or maybe the latest version. Considering the real marble's plastic coating, flexible fiberglass base, and factory damage (shipping boxes were perfect), I decided this brand wasn't the right choice. not for me.
