If you have to use ready made dog food and pellets (and many of us should), two brands I absolutely love are Annamaet and Honest Kitchen. I have tried different flavors of Annamaet food for my senior bitch as she has become more picky about food. It transitions beautifully to him and until I change the flavor to pique his interest, with no digestive issues. He also has skin problems and his digestive system can't cope with the sudden changes. Annamaet's Sustain flavor is made with Alaskan cod, turkey, lentils, sweet potatoes and peas. The minerals are chelated for quick absorption and the formula contains Carnathine, DHA, Omega 6 and 2. The protein content is 33%, which is a good amount for older dogs, and the fat content is 13%. In addition to excellent feed quality, the company only uses wild cod from certified sustainable fisheries. The reusable bag uses a new Velcro closure that works really well, unlike zippers which tend to have issues when powder gets in there. So expensive dog food, but definitely one of the best on the market.
