without bracket - not finished product

First. The instructions weren't even for the right product, for something similar, but not even close enough to say it was a 'similar' product. The bracket fits snugly against the wall, but the mounting position on the crossbar does not fit the bracket. There should be a wedge or lip at the top to hold the bracket in place and a set screw at the bottom to tighten it. When you tighten it, the rod just wants to detach from the wall. The round bracket isn't bad, but the massive bulge for the set screw lets the whole thing flip around a bit, as you can never tighten it enough to be level. Eventually, just keep tightening it to fix this insurmountable problem that just ends up bending the brace and making the problem worse as the brace no longer fits snugly into the attachment point on the towel rail. I have a feeling that part of the bracket is missing on the side of the towel rail ie not the finished product. The only way I can think of is to sand the top of the inside of the towel rail attachment. Put a small bead of something like JB welding on it and hope it works. I'm not seeking enough support to keep myself going. enough to keep it on the wall. You know how it's supposed to be. I have attached a photo of the inside of the attachment to the towel rail. You can clearly see that there is nothing to hold on to the bracket.
