Review on Girls' Clothing: Christmas Dresses with Button Sleeves & Flower Length by Gary Beard

Decent and pretty but with a few flaws

This dress looks so pretty on my 9 year old daughter who will be 10 when she wears it to our event. She's quite tall and thin, so I expected her to be a little big in places. I ordered her a size 10. It's funny how the outer white part that goes over the burgundy suits her. Not too tight, not too loose. The problem was that the burgundy part under the white on the back was too big. I have to tuck in darts to make it fit better. The front finish is great. I bought a bridal sash to complete the front because it seems to be missing a particular detail. This will make the dress much prettier. The tie at the back seems like an afterthought. It has a loosely sewn needle. I take it off and attach buttons to it and the dress itself to keep it secure when she wears it. The dress was very wrinkled as it was packed in a ziplock bag. I need to iron or steam it to make it look better for our event. The sleeves are also baggy at the arms. So I'll probably cut her off and make winged sleeves that look better on her arms. There is a stiffening/heavy duty tulle on top of the lining under the dress which luckily was over the lining and not under the dress as it feels very stiff and scratchy. I already had the soft crinoline from her first communion dress. If you put on a crinoline or harness (which I highly recommend), the hem of the dress will lift a bit. Not that it looks awful, but if you want the dress to be floor length in the front, you may need to order a size up or buy a soft crinoline to keep it from bunching up. I was glad it caught up with her crinoline. Children can trip over a dress that is too long in the front. The buttons all over the back are tightened with several threads, so I'll reinforce them too. In general, I have to sand the inside of the back, reinforce the buttons on the dress so that they don't come loose, iron it, close the tie at the back, and tuck in the sleeves. Once I have all of that done I will send some photos of the dress with my daughter so you can see how it looks.
