Good performance and cost; poor reception

This radio has many good points. Lightweight, small size is awesome. Good, large, easy to read display. Easy to use digital preset buttons. I paid a lot more for a Sangean pocket radio that didn't have all of these features. And the fact that it's rechargeable and doesn't require batteries is a huge plus. However, the lifespan of Retekiss batteries is much shorter than that of replacement batteries. Perhaps a maximum of six hours before a charge is required. Although it recharges quickly. A reasonable compromise if you're listening in relatively short bursts. There's one noticeable downside, and that's reception. stations What used to be crystal clear on the same Sangean (which wasn't durable) became static when I was in motion. Sitting in one spot is fine, but it doesn't clearly keep the station locked when moving. If I were to listen to music, it would be absolutely unbearable. On talk-oriented stations, however, hearing sporadic static noise is only slightly distracting. I've noticed a number of different brands all looking identical to this one. And one of the brands mentions that this is an updated version with better reception. That's exactly what this radio needs. If I buy the same thing again I will look for this solution.
