I already have a good bedroom clock radio but I wanted it to work well and look good in the bathroom. Basically I listen to the radio a lot in the shower and it also helps to keep track of the time so I know I won't be late in the morning. The main features that attracted me to this radio are the digital tuner and the large speaker. It's very difficult for me to dial into radio stations on an analog tuner near me so this was necessary. The large speaker is loud, clear and has a nice sound unlike others I've tried in the past which have been very shrill, fuzzy and don't sound good. A really pleasant surprise was how well illuminated the display was. It's a nice glowing blue light that actually works almost like a night light to help you find your way in the dark. Not everyone likes having a really bright bathroom light on in the middle of the night, so this is a good alternative. Don't worry, the display backlight is adjustable. If it's too bright for you and you're having trouble sleeping, just turn it down a little and you'll be fine. All in all a great radio, BUT I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars for two reasons: First, I think the reception could be a bit better. Reception isn't always the best in my area, but I've found that the stations I tune into most often tend to drift depending on where I stand in relation to this clock radio. It hurts a bit, but I don't think it's that important. Second, the lithium backup battery was DOA (discharged on arrival) so it needed to be replaced immediately. It's ok because Revain sells exact Sony replacement batteries at a really cheap price, but that's still impractical as it has to be a brand new item ready to use.
