Old Time Radio - Long Term Performance - Best AM Performance - Great Price

Updated 24th January 2021 After almost 4 years of daily use and abuse it works like new and apart from light wear and tear on the lacquer the dial and scratches, the radio is physically solid as when i received it. On/off/volume control, tuner control, tune indicator marker, antenna, battery cover, case, speaker, each screw, 100% one piece. Its durability I listen to the radio 5 days a week 5-6 hours a day, I'm a disabled vet, I have a 4 wheel walker and I put the radio on the seat when I walk, it fell about 22 inches on cement, paved Roads, rocky dirt tracks in the park, in the mud, in the dirty water, hoof prints, every day 2-3 times on my walks. Batteries sometimes fall out, but are immediately reinserted, sealed and turned on again. It has been dropped many times from 4+ feet onto my patio, many times from 6 foot fences onto gravel/rocks, I lost it for almost 2 weeks and finally found it in a tall pot outside in a California winter where it was raining. continuously during that time, and it's amazing that it's been like this all along. I heard a weird buzzing sound so I found it, turned it off then on again, set the number and got the perfect radio!. That was last year, at least 12-14 months ago, I still listen to Station Pick Up, I only listen to AM, FM doesn't work, even on my good car radio, at least for classic rock stations. I like it. I live in Morgan Hill, California, to the east, literally across from the Diablo mountain range. I pick up stations from San Francisco, Marin County north, south to Salinas and Monterey, I even pick up KMJ in Fresno, clear and loud as a bell, or as we say in the army, 5 on 5. The amazing thing is that it is 130 miles like a crow but 30 miles wide, 150-200 miles, 1500-2000 foot range is between us and I'm running into it. Just unbelievable! I have so many stations I can't count them and many of them are so far away or even further, even from Stockton and Manteca they come and given the angle they have to ridge jump 60 miles, even higher. as KMJ. It's like every little twist of the knob, I got a station. Battery Life Like I said hours every day and I change the batteries maybe every 5 if not every 6 weeks. Just don't turn up the volume, that's where all the power goes, not the receiver's circuitry, but the speaker volume. Miscellaneous Still happy with the sound, it's neither = high fidelity, but the speaker is more than good for this class and price. Of course, this isn't digital radio, so you may just need to set the radio to AM for the best reception. Nostalgia for the old days and simplicity and missing those simple days or you just want a basic radio without a million switches, modes and other "modern" annoyances like login and tracking and a radio that can take punches and into yours Pocket fits, and all this without breaking your bank, don't think, just understand! I will update this in another 4 years! First Review I've been using it for about a week now and I really like it. I see this radio is now $19.97. I bought it a week ago on February 11, 2017 for $18.74. mmhh, is Revane jacking up the price and thinking I'll buy another one? Anyway, I review all radios in this price range, some reviews say great and some say bad and I believe them both. Your reception will depend on your location (e.g. flat plains or mountainous/hilly areas), e.g. B. from your place of residence. As such, it's difficult to tell from reviewers "whether radio works well for me in my area". I wanted a radio in this price range, give or take a few bucks. I just wanted a radio to listen to AM talk radio while exercising in the garden or going for a walk, listening to FM radio was also on my list. I don't know how well any of these might work in my area, I searched for the Sangean SR-35 and of course got responses to the Amazon reviews and then found a reviewer on YouTube. This reviewer is a radio amateur and bought almost all pocket radios and other larger radios from Amazon and reviewed them in parallel in the same place at the same time. This still doesn't answer how well this will work in my area, but it certainly answers how good AM and FM reception is to each other under the same conditions. It starts by physically scanning through the features, then slowly runs it up and down the AM and FM bands, counting how many stations on each band for each radio again at the same time (plus or minus and hour) and at the same time Time are... at the same time. Accurate location so it's really an oranges to oranges comparison, it also rates how well it performs when you walk it or take it on a bike ride (how well it holds the lock). Search youtube for "bigslick radio" bigslick is one word, if you type 2 you get something completely different. Long story short, I got my Panasonic FR P50 @ 16.95, Sangean SR35 @ 19.74 (although I got it 1.20 less a week ago) and Sony ICPF26 @ 19.75 (a week ago it was 21.75 or so I'm aware only I) viewed remember something under $22 which I thought was overpriced but still thought) Panasoinc featured a rather spectacular physical in a review on YouTube Body and fairly short antenna of about 13 inches, Sony and Sangean have 17 inches, it does too. There was no clip on the body to lock it when folded and turned towards the body, so it's pretty easy which breaking the antenna and I read many reviewers saying they broke the antenna. It also had the lowest reception for AM and FM stations and had poor ability to stay tuned to a station while driving, but it's pricey and if you're just sitting there you'll probably be fine. One more thing, it has a built in power/volume switch, others have separate switches/knobs. I'm not scolding Panasonic, just stating the facts. Then Sony ICPF26 watched this very well, as you would expect from Sony, with a long 17-inch antenna, a large speaker, but the Sangean is slightly larger, it has almost twice as many AM and FM stations as Panasonic, the only downside is a boat, with a thickness of 1.3 - 1.5, it's like a computer feast, I didn't like it and that's what should be taken into account first of all. In addition, the reception during the journey was very good. Sangean SR-35, the body is nice and sturdy, I've already dropped it a meter on a rock, kept playing as if nothing happened, built-in on / off and volume control, some don't like it, so they can If you turn it back on, you'll have the same volume as if your volume wheel didn't move after you put it down or picked it up and played around with it. I don't see that as a problem, just one less thing to break. It has a nice big tuning wheel, the bigger the better as it will help you tune the station, the smaller wheel makes it harder to tune. His side-by-side comparison showed this train a few AM stations short of Sony but only a few like 3 or 4 out of 23-25 but outperforming Sony in AM reception. I remember the number but it was 5 or more. In addition, it has a 17-inch antenna, a very practical hinge and a latch on the bottom of the case for a secure hold. It's slightly thinner than the Sony, as you'd expect from a packet radio, the height and width are about the same or less. My own review of the Sangean SR-35 Gald I bought it and love it. Again, it's light and a lot thinner than the Sony, with nice rounded edges on the sides, its speaker is slightly larger and it's a very, very, very high quality speaker. I could hear it from 100ft away with a nice clear sound, I was really shocked, I thought the speaker wasn't that good but it is. I live in Morgan Hill, California. это небольшой городок в небольшой долине, окруженный горами, и я могу ловить тонны AM- и FM-станций из Сан-Хосе и Монтеррея, я также получаю станцию, которую я действительно хотел, 560 KSFO Talk Radio на AM 5000 Вт, которая исходит из san francisco Sixty miles north of me, like a bird, and blocked by many mountains and my sheltered valley, and the sangeans take it well. If that's not enough I can get an AM 580 from Fresno, CA. That's 109 miles from us and we're separated by the Hayward Fult range and my house is about 150 yards from the edge of that range, I'm squeezing against it! The batteries last forever, I've been running it 8 hours a day for the last 5 days and one day I had it on full volume but didn't turn it off. Battery life is excellent for any old transistor radio you have, they last for weeks or more while digital radios fail quickly. You also use 2 AA batteries for this. I didn't want a radio with a built in battery as you can't charge it (or at least charge it easily) if you're camping or going on the ark and the battery is dead. Even with the Sony priced at over $2 and the Sangean at $1.25 last week I would still buy the Sangean, the Sony is a boat so its price may have been reduced, check out the Bigslicks video on YouTube , he points out, a much greater impact when you actually see it. And next to it the best AM reception. Revain has listed Sony as Revain's choice, and with all due respect to Revain, I think that means they get a better deal through Sony than actually about any quality or performance I know they "buy from you." ' but it's literally pennies on the dollar, I guess that's why it's her choice. I don't know why they changed the prices but usually when you add something to your cart and then save for a later category you see a price reduction message in your cart a few days or a week later or email Revain and ask why they suddenly increased the sangean by 1.25. There is a flaw in those old transistor radios, after you tune it in, it may disappear a little when you turn its direction, because you change the direction of the antenna, and also if you go, the signal may need to be adjusted, but I All I do is about 2.5 miles a day and it snaps in pretty well all the way, but not without a few tweaks here and there. Digital radio has phase-locked loops that compensate for frequency drift, but it doesn't. These radios are also prone to background noise, but who cares. I just wanted to listen to a basic radio while gardening or going for a walk and it's a really nice feeling - a reminder of my childhood. Wow, back then we were more than happy to have a small pocket radio for a few bucks. These days, without spending $500 every few months on upgrading your phone and $100-$250 a month on your family's monthly bill, you can't spend more so you can text on a phone that's meant for talking can send and tell you how to do everything in your life by spying on everything you do in your life because you have become so dependent on google, microsoft and many others to tell you how to find simple things and can do (in my day we do research, today it makes the nation "ask") or how to get to places you should know how to do that by now because you've never looked at the map and like most high schoolers these days can't even name 20% of the state names in the US or even know where they are there, don't even know where the countries are in the world they actually know very little. Well, a lot to scold. I think it was better when they were simpler, this radio is simple and will bring you endless joy and good tunes.

No need to mourn the demise of the Sony s10
