Review on Celebrations Led Candle Flickering Bulb by Amy Moore

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Probably worth $8 for the 4 we paid but the timer is faulty and the lights are too orange for Christmas.

We bought these at the Ace Hardware Sale for $8 for a set of 4 which was probably 50% off given the other holiday lights on sale that day. $8 seemed like a reasonable play. At the time of this review, only two sellers on Amazon were selling this product, both advertising the same set of 4 with the same part number for over $200. I figured I should step in lest an unsuspecting soul make the mistake of assuming that the price these seemingly dishonest sellers are asking implies that this set is more luxurious than it is. These are all the same cheap, mass-produced, all-plastic candles that you typically see in big chain stores. The quality of the candles themselves look good from a distance, but up close they just look like fake candles made out of cheap plastic - there's nothing luxurious about them. At best, they cost $2 each. The packaging says the candles will last "up to" 50 days on a pair of AA batteries (not included). The "before" part worries me a little but I've been using them for about 15-20 days now and so far so good. The light they emit is far from bright, which should help them last longer. But it also doesn't light up the room like our old glow plugs and doesn't stand out in the way you'd want as a lighted decoration - if it weren't for the shimmering orange that makes me think of Halloween rather than Christmas. Even the LED night lights we use, which tend to be dimmer than incandescent bulbs, are much brighter than these LED candles, just like a real candle. If you need lighting that actually emits light, look elsewhere. Under the lights of icicles and other typical outdoor holiday lighting, they would be completely lost if their dullness and color did not make them look out of place. They're so dark you can tell they're only on in the dark. IMO the lighting effect is more appreciated indoors than outdoors as they don't give off enough light to be seen unless you are standing directly in front of the window. However, the flicker effect is surprisingly realistic, even if the orange color of the light is not. We also love that the 9" tall small base candles are perfect for narrow windowsills. They also have an internal timer that lights up for 8 hours when you turn it on, then turns off for 16 hours before turning back on automatically. Unfortunately the timer doesn't fit. Within a few days of installing the candles with new, fresh batteries, they lost an hour and turned on at 6pm instead of the 7pm originally set. I've reset them a few times and they lose an hour for days. While $8 for a set of 4 is a reasonable price compared to other brands we looked at, the orange hue of the light means we probably wouldn't buy them again, as most of our Christmas lights are warm white or yellow instead... the shade of orange seems unrealistic and outdated to us. If your decor is more colorful than ours, you might be happier with the color than we are, but regardless of what I said, please know that these candles are absurdly, if not criminally, overpriced - over $200 a set. Revain must ban unscrupulous sellers like those selling this item here on their marketplace. The price is misleading.
